Bandari baptize Nakumatt

SportPesa Premier League newbies Nakumatt were introduced to top flight football with a 1-0 defeat at the heands of Bandari at Mbaraki Sports Club, Mombasa on Saturday.

Former Gor Mahia striker Enoch Agwanda scored the lone goal of the match in the 40th minute for the coastal side.

The match saw the return of one time League Goalkeeper of the Year nominee Sammy Okinda – between the posts for Nakumatt - after a long injury-enforced absence.

As expected, Bandari dominated the match, laying siege on Nakumatt's territory for the better part of the first half.

But the retail traders did not just lie down and fold. On 33 minutes former AFC Leopards striker Kepha Aswani got a chance to create history for Nakumatt but fluffed the fair chance.

Agwanda showed why he is considered one of the league’s most dangerous strikers five minutes to the break. The powerful built goal poacher received a fine pass from his midfielder Michael Luvutsi, outran Nakumatt defender Eugene Ambulwa before driving a piercing shot past Okinda to decide this affair for good.
