SportPesa Premier League champions Tusker on Wednesday at Ruaraka in Nairobi officially unveiled their nine new signings and their technical bench for the 2017 season.
The nine are Brian Omondi, who was on loan to Agro Chemicals, defenders Marlon Tangauzi ( from Uganda Saints FC) Vincent Omumbo (Thika United), former Chemelil Sugar captain Samuel Olwande, midfielders Sydney Ochieng (Palos FC), Moses Ndawula (Lweza FC, Uganda), Abdul Hillary (African Lyon, Tanzania), Evans Ochieng (Umeme FC) and Victor Ndinya (Bandari).
Tusker also announced the departure of goalkeeper Martin Musalia and veteran utility player Osborne Monday who moved to Posta Rangers and Kariobangi Sharks respectively.
Internationally capped Brian Osumba has returned after a season out due to injury.
The technical bench is headed by 50-year old Ugandan George Nsimbe, assisted by former Chemelil Sugar coach Francis Baraza. Kagai Azande, formerly with Mathare United, has been appointed goalkeeping coach.
In an interview with kpl.co.ke, Nsimbe said he was delighted with the new signings and their preseason preparations.
“The new signings are fitting in well and we are focusing on establishing cohesion among the players. It will be a tough season, but I believe the side has what it takes to make it to the group stages of the CAF Champions League and to defend the league title,” he said.
Tusker have played build up matches in their preseason training against with Palos FC of Kisumu, Muhoroni Youth, Vihiga United and Bul FC of Uganda.
