Deadly stiker Stephen Waruru ends Posta Rangers’ unbeaten run, Gor Mahia surprisingly held by struggling Thika United as rookies Nakumatt stun Chemelil Sugar in Sunday matches.

Ulinzi Stars 1-0 Posta Rangers (Afraha Stadium)

The league’s only unbeaten teams Posta Rangers lost that record after 11 games away to tough Ulinzi Stars.

It was league top scorer Stephen Waruru who headed in the goal for Ulinzi Stars in the 50th minute for his seventh goal of the season.

Waweru almost doubled the scores for his team in stoppage time, but his shot ricocheted off the cross bar.

Gor Mahia 1-1 Thika United (Nyayo National Stadium)

Shami Kibwana drove forward to complete a great individual effort in the 20th minute when he beat Thika goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch.

Gor got an excellent chance to make amends in the 67th minute when Jacques Tuyisenge was felled inside the box. Timothy Otieno however fluffed the spot kick, shooting the ball directly into the hands of Thika goalkeeper Eliud Emase.

Second half substitute Godfrey Walusimbi restored parity seven minutes to time with a wonderfully taken free kick.

Nakumatt 2-1 Chemelil Sugar (Ruaraka Grounds)

League debutants Nakumatt went ahead in the 20th minute through proven scorer Kepha Aswani who headed home a corner kick past award winning Chemelil custodian Jairus Adira.

Eugene Ambulwa turned in a free kick taken by Harambee Stars trialist Peter Nzuki a minute after the restart to extend Nakumatt’s lead.

John Mwita pulled one goal back for the sugar millers with an easy tap-in in the 65th minute after exchanging passes neatly with veteran midfielder Hillary Echesa.

Sony Sugar 2-0 Western Stima (Awendo Green Stadium)

Who else, but veteran and club faithful Marwa Chamberi struck in the 26th minute for Sony after picking up Mwana Yama’s cross.

The hosts were award a penalty in the 62nd minute when the hard working Boniface Muchiri was brought down inside the box by left back Victor Oduor and the obliging Amos Asembeka stepped up to make no mistake with the penalty kick for a comfortable Sony win.
