Coach Kerr delighted to join ‘fantastic club’ Gor

Briton Dylan Kerr Gor Mahia cannot wait to occupy the very hot seat that is the Gor Mahia coaching job.

Kerr, who was unveiled on Monday morning in Nairobi said that he will work towards steadily improving the team’s performance in the country and in Africa where Gor once had a fearsome reputation.

“This is a fantastic club and I was so excited when I got the call that I felt as if I could swim to Kenya. Gor Mahia has a big and good reputation. Every coach who has been here speaks highly of the team and I am happy to be here.

“My long term vision is to ensure that this becomes the best team in Africa. I am here for as long as the team needs me and I would like to work with the players, the management and the fans, because the fans are the heart and soul of the team.

“I have managed a number of teams in Tanzania and South Africa, but had to leave at some point due to challenges that were beyond my control. I hope to impart the experience I have learned here to help the club achieve all its ambitions,” he said.

The 50-year old has signed a two-year contract, taking over from Brazilian Marcelo Ferreira who resigned abruptly.

He was at Thika Stadium on Sunday to watch Gor as they got eliminated 6-5 on penalties by Bandari in their GOtv Shield second round encounter.

His first official assignment will be on Thursday July 13 at the National Stadium Dar es Salaam when Gor face English Premier League side Everton in a friendly match.

K’Ogalo earned the honours of featuring in this match courtesy after winning the inaugural SportPesa Super Cup after beaing arch rivals AFC Leopards 3-0 in the final in June.
