Ulinzi edge Chemelil to end losing streak

Ulinzi Stars ended a three-match losing streak with a 1-0 win over Chemelil Sugar at Afraha Stadium on Tuesday.

The soldiers sailed ahead for good through a penalty kick guided home by midfielder Daniel Waweru in the first half after Chemelil’s Yusuf Juma had handled the ball inside the box.

The soldiers were dominant throughout the game with Cliff Kasuti, Oliver Rutto and second half replacement, league top scorer, Stephen Waruru menacing in front of goal.

The result could be considered sweet revenge for Ulinzi who lost 2-1 to Chemelil in the first leg at Chemelil Sports Complex.

The win should bring some much needed confidence to the stuttering Kenya Defence Forces side that had gone six matches without a win prior to Wednesday’s encounter with the sugar millers.

Ulinzi next face league leaders Gor Mahia while Chemelil Sugar, without a win in their last five matches, will confront Muhoroni Youth at home.
