Leopards, Sofapaka bare fangs as Tusker go flat

AFC Leopards maul Zoo at their Kericho backyard, Sofapaka savage Chemelil Sugar while Sony Sugar down badly fading Tusker in Sunday matches.

Zoo Kericho 1-3 AFC Leopards (Kericho Green)

Productive striker Ray Omondi opened the scoring in the sixth minute connecting with a corner taken by winger Marcellus Ingotse.

The on-fire Omondi doubled his tally and Leopards’ in the 32nd minute to further frustrate the league debutants who humiliated Western Stima 4-2 two weeks ago.

Ingwe settled matters in the 55th minute when Vincent Oburu finished off a delicious cross from the busy Ingotse.

Zoo's sensational youngster Nicholas Kipkurui scored the consolation goal for the hosts in the dying moments of the game after a series of missed chances by his team mates.

Improving Leopards have now stringed together four unbeaten matches, two of them victories.

Sofapaka 4-1 Chemelil Sugar (Narok Stadium)

On form striker Umaru Kasumba, who laid bare his ambitions of bagging the league Golden Boot just last week, made a statement of intent by recording a hat trick, to increase his season tally to nine.

Kasumba scored in the 30th and 32nd minute of the match an emphatic reply to Chemelil’s early lead via Collins Neto.

The red hot Ugandan striker was at it once more nine minutes after the break to all but seal victory for Sofapaka.

Ezekiel Okare had the pleasure of putting the icing on the Sofapaka cake in the 70th minute, as the 2009 champions gathered momentum ahead of their midweek encounter against Ulinzi Stars away at the Afraha Stadium.

Chemelil goalkeeper John Wau was red carded for handling the ball outside the box in the second half.

Sony Sugar 2-0 Tusker (Awendo Green Stadium)

On the double George Abege scored at the start and towards the end of the first half to condemn the badly fading Tusker to their fifth loss in seven outings.
