SPL midweek preview

Badly faded Tusker take on Kariobangi Sharks while Western Stima host Nakumatt as Zoo Kericho face a stern Nzoia Sugar test on Wednesday.

Tusker v Kariobangi Sharks (Ruaraka Grounds, 3pm)

Defending champions Tusker, placed an unfamiliar fifth position on the league table, return to action after three weeks of inactivity against a team that was in action just last Saturday.

Kariobangi Sharks have won one of their last four games and look to be on the wane.

They will, however, benefit from the return of forwards Masoud Juma and Patilla Omotto from international duty in Asia.

A barren draw was the outcome of the first leg match played on June 18.

Western Stima v Nakumatt (Moi Stadium, 3pm)

Stima are in the relegation hole and must dig up a win on Wednesday, and in practically all their remaining matches to survive the big drop.

On the other hand, Nakumatt will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 4-3 defeat to Muhoroni Youth.

Kepha Aswani’s recent slump has seen him drop from second to fourth position on the top scorers’ charts. He will want to resume his normal deadly service.

Nakumatt stunned Stima 2-0 in their first leg match in Nairobi on April 22.

Zoo Kericho v Nzoia Sugar (Kericho Green Stadium, 3pm)

Zoo Kericho will be confident after their 1-0 victory over highly rated Kakamega Homboyz last weekend that shattered the Western Kenya-based team’s nine-match unbeaten record.

Nzoia’s lead striker Masita Masuta has been ruled out of this match with an ankle injury he collected two weeks ago during a match against Western Stima.

Vincent Misikhu is out of this match with a mandatory one-match suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.

The two teams settled for a one-all draw in their first leg tie.
