Ex-Gor strikers Keli, Agwanda move to Bandari

Bandari have signed proven goal-getters Jacob Keli and Enock Agwanda, all formerly with Gor Mahia.

The duo are among seven players the coast-based side has so far acquired for the new season under new coach Paul Nkata.

The 2016 SportPesa Premier League winning coach with Tusker has also brought into the squad his son Fred Nkata, vastly experienced defender Noah Abich from Sofapaka and Thika United’s Michael Luvutsi.

Others are Nakumatt winger Tyrone Owino and Bandari academy players John Aviro and Willy Lugogo who have shown great promise.

Nkata, who also coached Muhoroni Youth before moving to Tusker, has publicly stated that he can accomplish much even with little known players.

He will have to pull out the best from his drawer in Mombasa where the glory-starved, demanding fans will want nothing less than the league title, as it has always been ever since 1965 when coast-based Feisal won the league - the first and the last time a club from the coast has won the Kenyan championship.

Nkata has yet to formally begin his duties with assistant coaches Ken Odhiambo and George Owoko handling the team for now.

Under their tutelage, Bandari were held to a barren draw by lower league side Mwatate United in a friendly match played at Mbaraki Sports Club this week.

Importantly for Bandari, they gave all their players a run as they began to fine-tune in earnest for the new season.
