GOtv Shield: Gor, Ulinzi knocked out, Tusker, Leopards advance

Gor Mahia, the 2015 champions, were on Sunday tossed out of the GOtv Shield tournament following a 6-5 post-match penalty kicks loss to fellow SportPesa Premier League side Bandari at Thika Stadium.

Lewis Cosmas gave Bandari the lead early in the second half before Boniface Omondi equalized for Gor midway the second stanza to force the decisive penalty kicks.

Defending champions Tusker edged out Palos 1-0 in Meru to proceed to the round of 16 with a first half goal from Jackson Machari while veteran Hilary Echesa struck once to hand former champions Sofapaka a 1-0 win over Western Stima 1-0 in Thika.

Former champions AFC Leopards on Saturday clinched a hard fought 2-0 win over lower tier side Nairobi Stima at the Mumias Sports Complex following strikes from Aziz Okaka and Joshua Mawira.

Ulinzi Stars were eliminated by fellow top tier side Sony Sugar 1-0 at Afraha Stadium on Saturday. The sugar millers’ leading scorer Amos Asembeka slotted home a penalty kick early in the first half to settle the affair.

Kakamega Homeboyz laboured to a 1-0 win over Zetech University courtesy of a 62nd minute goal from Francis Nambute.
