Leopards end eight-match winless streak

AFC Leopards beat Bandari in Mombasa to snap a run of eight matches without a win as Ulinzi Stars edged out Nakumatt in the only matches to produce wines on Sunday.

Bandari 0-1 AFC Leopards (Mbaraki Sports Club)

This victory saw struggling Ingwe end an eight match winless record, as new coach Robert Matano started his reign with a win.

It is young winger Marcelus Ingotse who scored the only goal of the match in stoppage time, taking advantage of Wilson Obungu’s poor positioning to beat him with intelligence.

Leopards had gone for two months without tasting a win and you would understand the relief expressed by their passionate, long-suffering fans.

Kariobangi Sharks 0-0 Kakamega Homeboyz (Kenyatta Stadium)

Kariobangi Sharks created the majority of the chances but just could not break down some determined defending by the visitors.

Nakumatt 1-2 Ulinzi Stars (Ruaraka Grounds)

Golden boy Samuel Onyango put the Kenya Defence Forces side in front two minutes after the interval, shooting home a rebound from blocked effort by Nakumatt goalkeeper Sammy Okinda.

The retail traders, however, provided a response in the 58th minute through former Tusker forward Joshua Oyoo who drilled home a nice shot past Ulinzi's Jackton Odhiambo to level matters.

Three minutes to the end of regular time, left back Omar Mbongi gifted the soldiers the winning goal with a fortuitous header that bounced awkwardly on the goal line past the flailing hands of Okinda.

Mathare United 0-0 Sony Sugar (Ruaraka Ground)

Despite collecting one point, Mathare United will remain at the base of the SPL table for yet another week.

Mathare custodian Levis Opiyo was sent off in the 86th minute for an unfair tackle on Sony’s second half substitution Yema Mwana, prompting coach Francis Kimanzi to withdraw defender David Owino and introduce Wycliffe Kasaya on goal.

The sugar millers, who beat Ulinzi Stars 1-0 last weekend to proceed to the GOtv Shield round of 16, were however unable to make any use of their numerical advantage.

Thika United 0-0 Sofapaka (Thika Stadium)

The expensively assembled Sofapaka squad could not overcome the home side who cruised to their fifth unbeaten match of the season.

Batoto ba Mungu remained at sixth position on the log as Thika also stayed in 17th.
