GOtv Shield round of 16

Nine SportPesa Premier League sides will be in action this weekend in the third round of the GOtv Shield as they eye spots in the quarter-finals..

Former holders Sofapaka will be looking to reclaim the trophy they last won in 2014 as they face last year’s quarter-finalists Kariobangi Sharks at the Nyayo National Stadium in the only match on Sunday.

Sharks are currently on a 10-match unbeaten ran in the SPL and coach William Muluya, ominously, said they were looking to sail all the way to the final.

“This is a trophy that is within our reach and we shall try everything to win it. Last year we got to the quarters so this year we have to record an even better performance,” he said.

Defending champions Tusker will face a seemingly tame challenge against second division side Butterfly at the Kinoru Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they continue with their title retention mission.

Belligerent Bandari will be at their Mbaraki turf to face off with 2015 finalists Nakumatt in an enticing clach, while league returnees Nzoia United will play Sony Sugar in Awendo on Saturday.

Free-scoring AFC Leopards’ tie against Bidco United has been postponed to Wednesday next week because three key Ingwe’s are currently on a tour in Spain with the select SportPesa Premier League All Stars.

GOtv Shield round three:

Bandari vs Nakumatt (Mbaraki)

Sony Sugar vs Nzoia Sugar (Awendo)

Eldoret Youth vs Savannah (Kipchoge Keino)

GFE 105 vs Wazito (Kipchoge Keino)
